The Trial with K. H. Frank in front of the Extraordinary People's Court
Vozdek, Jakub ; Kuklík, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Ladislav (referee)
In my Master's thesis I described in detail the historical process of war criminal Karl Hermann Frank. He was a man who had been influencing the main events in the Czech lands for many years. I divided the thesis in ten chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the personality of K. H. Frank. I tried to briefly describe all the life's milestones of a man justly sentenced to death for his crimes against the Czechoslovak state. In the second and third chapter I focused on two men who played a very important role in the process and extradition of K. H. Frank, Kamill Resler and Bohuslav Ečer. In subsequent chapters I fully dealt with the process itself, from the very start through the daily courses of the trial to the verdict. In conclusion I summarized findings from the process and answer the question about the objectivity of proceedings against the accused.
Position and role of Croatia in prosecuting and extradition of war criminals to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia-case study of Ante Gotovina
Ortmann, Matyáš ; Žíla, Ondřej (advisor) ; Šístek, František (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the research of the development of cooperation of Croatian governments with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the matter of prosecution and extradition of war criminals during the Yugoslav wars in the 1990s with regard to the Croatian general Ante Gotovina. The aim of the thesis is to analyze, on the basis of relevant documents, how this cooperation was or was not successful. The prosecution of war criminals has been a key part of the foreign policy of the former Yugoslavia for many years. In the case of Croatia, it was even one of the main aspects that prevented the country from joining Western structures, such as the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance. In the early 1990s, authoritarian President Franjo Tuđman came to power to determine Croatia's course until his death at the end of 1999. This period was very empty for Croatia within foreign policy. Only the accession of Croatia to the Council of Europe in November 1996 could be described as a success. With the advent of Račan's government in 2000, Croatia's cooperation with the ICTY has improved, but the Tribunal has found this to be inadequate. After the new government of one side of the Croatian Democratic Union, led by prime minister Ivo Sanader, the cooperation has...
Massacre in Lidice and Kľak Valley - comparison of media representation and historical reflection
Jaroš, Martin ; Šafařík, Petr (advisor) ; Dimitrov, Michal (referee)
This thesis analyzes the tendencies in the press of given era and the development of social discussion on burning of Lidice village and Klak and Ostrý Gruň settlements through discourse-historical approach and other sociological concepts. It specifically follows the level of awareness and media content of selected periodicals from the time of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the transitional period of the existence of the Slovak State, over 40 years of the communist era, until the renewed or newly created periodicals of the Velvet Revolution, to the present, meant 2017. Usually by decades, always on the anniversary date of the event. The thesis attempts to confirm the hypothesis that sensitive historical events tend to be interpreted with bias, in compliance with the current regime, through (in this case) printed media; were they owned by government, opposition, or even those who are seeking (political) impartiality.

Death of Muammar Gaddafi and its international legal and political circumstances
Vokálek, Martin ; Rolenc, Jan Martin (advisor) ; Hlavsová, Aneta (referee)
The thesis deals with the events that predated the death of Muammar Gaddafi and particularly examines whether the subsequent reactions of the persons involved were in accordance with international law. The essence of a war crime and its definition in terms of international law is researched in the theoretical part of the thesis. Further tackled is the perspective of both the main actors of the conflict and the main institutions active in the field of international law, such as the UN or the International Criminal Court. The author subsequently describes and analyses the main circumstances in which the long-time leader of Libya Muammar Gaddafi died. On the basis of prior examination of the issue the thesis tries to answer the question of whether this case can be described as a war crime for which punishment should fall. The third part examines the reactions of the main actors who were influenced in the Libyan civil war. Of importanance is also the subsequent analysis of how was this incident reported in the media.
